Buying A Time Share

If you can't afford a vacation home, you're certainly not alone. But many people opt for the next best thing...owning a share of a vacation home or condo that you visit once a year. They're called time shares. Are they for you?

Question by dennisdasaint: How does one sell a timeshare in Mexico?
I understand the best way may be to find a broker relies on a commission if the timeshare sells. Most want fees upfront and they can range from .00 to 0.00 or more. This particular timeshare system allows you to exchange or visit most any where in the world. The maintainence fee is killing us-since we can't afford to travel anymore. We are only asking 00.00 or obo--the system is available for 20 years. Ideas?

  1. that sounds awesome. because im thinking of getting one. so we can goto disney world

  2. If you have any questions about timeshares, check out the link from my profile!

  3. I work for a “Timeshare” Where I work there is no maintanance fee there is a free 2yr RCI affiliation and you dont only have 1 week of the year, you could use it any time of the year if you have weeks left plus it is a lifetime membership, if you have weeks or nights left your membership is active and can be passed on, additional to the 20-30% discount on anything on the home resort. ;)
All this on the Mayan Riviera Mexico near Cancun, you may get memberships for anywhere between 3Grnd to 25.

  5. Can’t give them away.

  6. look for low maintenance fees and a real nice resort…..dont pay more than ten grand!

  7. Timeshares are a major waste and the schemes are usually for the rich. No average individual can pay maintenance, yearly fees and so on. It is better to rent a room for a week, negotiate the price with the manager, and choose wisely.

Most time share companies make it seem like an investment. Which it’s just a way for the hotel chain to collect money when the room is not used. It’s like you pay money for an empty apartment and only use it according to the contract. which can vary. Major waste.

  8. if you spend money on vacation and do not buy a timeshare you will be @ 100% loss every year you go. I payed mine off after 3 years and now I am winning 2000% because the value is up on my investment and I use it for business and pleasure and I play like crazy. The economy does not bother me one bit because I can still travel like I am rich. i AM NOT RICH..but I travel like millionaire

  9. I have 1.5 month per year and in your case it is a personal choice for plush vacations..I hate hotels of any kind
knowing out to work it is best…

  10. ?only $1200 a year maintenence fees? I could go on 3 or more vacations a year for your monthly fee cost and go to different places. If you think you are getting a deal that’s ok with me, but I still think that a timeshare isn’t in my best interest.

  11. maint is cool it just pays for the upkeep, insurance, taxes, so the place stays nice and all resorts need them it is like HOA fees. other people take care of your resorts for you. Love it. it is worth every dime and because mine is payed off I pay only 1200 a year and the 300 was for both of us for a week

  12. So who is this maintenance free timeshare with? Never heard of that.
$300 for a cruise is now common.
Glad you got a deal and like it.

  13. sorry you feel that way, I am married 2 children. to stay in a nice place and to just call a phone number and they do all the work. is worth millions to me. the maintanance fee is nothing. all my friends love times share and my wife needs a rest from the kids sometimes and so do I. If you are going to vacation at all this is a fantastic way to go considering mine has been payed off and I just went on a cruse, wife and I $300 for the 7 days with everything included..

  14. I love going to timeshare promo’s. Take their gifts and run. Don’t buy into the promise, they are selling nothing but ‘air’ and what they sell you and what you get are 2 different things. For the initial price and monthly fees you could bank the initial money and use the interest and principle to pay for vacations the rest of your life. What happens right before the TS expires? You get a bill for ‘refurbishing’ that’s huge and in your contract. Save your money.

  19. I bought my timeshare from Point To Point destinations in Vancouver, BC and i regret it since. I discovered many facts after i bought it have i known them i would never touch it with a 10 foot poll. I posted the facts on the TimeshareRevealed web site

  20. Time share is not a scam, I sold it for years and made good money doing it. Time share resorts are very quick payers and give good bonuses and prizes too like Swiss watches. Why on earth does it get a bad name, its fantastic.

  21. bad never buy them please

  22. Daaa…. Anything you buy you don’t use is waste of your money…..

  23. With all these operating expenses on top paid on those days you not even use. Give me a break !

  24. Buying time share is like eating beyond what you stomach can hold.Their sales rep often stretch your imagination and you become blure between fantasy and reality in the 90 minute presentation and their fees and other operating fees and payment are in such small letters that a 600 electronmicroscope can barely pick up.

  25. My job is actually converting old timeshare members who own Fairfield programs out of that system and who own timeshare weeks into points.
Other good companies are Geo Holiday & Shell Vacation Club.
